How to have a healthy New Years Eve party
What are you doing to celebrate 2007 and bring in the new year tonight? Wherever you are and whatever you do, here’s a few tips to enjoy your New Years Eve party whether you’re alone or in the company of others and kick off 2008 by making your health your priority:
1. Decide to approach it as a celebration of self-care. Be proud of what you have done in 2007 to look after your body whether it’s been not eating out too much, learning to cook and eat a healthy meal, saying no to alcohol when under peer pressure, exercising regularly or whatever it is.
2. Wash down your drinks. If you are going to consume alcohol, try to stick to just one or two glasses and make sure you wash down your drinks with water right after and/or during the drink.
3. Don’t succumb to peer pressure. If your friends or family ask you to drink more alcohol or ask why you’re drinking water, be honest and tell them. One night of bad health conduct can be detrimental and new years eve is just as important.
4. Go small on the appetizers. Whether you’re hosting your own party or out with your friends, eat only small amounts of appetizers. Some people can nibble at these preliminary foods in really small amounts and for long periods of time only to notice that the build up has caused a sense of unhealthiness in the body.
5. Make it a RAW party. If you’re hosting your own party, you’ll probably have more control over what is served so why not decide to make it a raw party? Have all foods and courses made up of only raw vegetables and fruits and be proud of what you’re eating and drinking. A fresh juice is a great way to toast the new year.
6. Whatever you eat, complement it with a big healthy water-rich salad.
