5 things you can do each morning to have more energy
Energy is a source within us that we can increase or decrease not only using the mind, but based on how we utilize our food and drink. Here are a few things you could do every morning to give you boundless energy.
1. Drink a pint glass of water first thing in the morning. If you don’t like water on its own, squeeze some fresh lime into it.
2. Have a good breakfast. A good bowl of muesli won’t do you harm and neither will some porridge. Both are much better than a fry up.
3. Start off with at least 10 minutes of exercise. Stretch all your body’s larger muscles. Consider doing a brisk walk around the block each morning too.
4. Take in the sun light. I wake up when I see sun. Its energy, invigorating and excitement is absolutely amazing. Get up and spend a minute outside looking up in the sky taking in the morning light. Wrap up warm if it’s cold, but make sure you do it.
5. Fresh juice. I make myself a great carrot, apple and ginger juice daily. There is power in eating or drinking fruit before a meal and drinking a large glass of fresh juice is the best way to get started each day.

Hi Shama,
Good question. The juice I mention above is a carrot, apple and ginger juice. There really is no specific recipe that I use apart from adding in lots of carrots, one or two apples and a small piece of ginger. The more you make, the more you’ll realise how much ginger you put in to match your taste. On certain days I like a stronger juice so I use more ginger than normal.
The beauty of squeezing your own juices is that you can make it whatever you want. Try it and let me know how it goes.
Love,
Kavit

If you do not like water just kill yourself. Honestly, do it. You’re an insult to everybody living and dead.
Go on.

You say eating muesli or porridge in the morning won’t do any harm. That really depends on your point of view. Sure you won’t get ill because of it but there’s tons of theorys and philosophys telling you you shouldn’t eat soething as heavy as muesli in the morning.
Muesli really needs lots of energy to digest so probably there’s people out there would be feeling much better without breakfast or just something small, light and warm.

The sun always wakes me up in the summer early and I want to get outside, but when it’s hard to get out of bed in the winter I find that pilates and yoga stretching for 10 minutes help to get me going.

@Lindsey – indeed, Canada gives you sun after you wake up at times, But still get it when it does come out!
@Honesty – good point. ‘Nuff said.
@Lalita – you have a good point. Different schools of thought offer different suggestions. The more deeper you go, the more you find. I guess its important to note that muesli is at least better than a fry up!
@ Jennifer – excellent to hear about yoga. It is really massive in the West today.

This is a very easy list to do on a consistent basis…just had my pint of water, well just a a US Cup. Also had breakfast, but did not go out for a walk. I really should though since it is a beauteous 60degree day…tomorrow will be freezing snowy weather.
I also woke up with the sun and I just put juice on the grocery list.

I always have breakfast but it was changing my exercising to the morning that was the hardest thing for me to do. I just LOVE staying in bed. Oh well, it took me 30 years to get out of shape, I can’t get in shape in a week. I’ve been at it for about 2 months now and dropped about 10 pounds. So I’m going for an extra 15 now over the next 3 months.

These are all great tips, but I would simply add that a “fry up” as you call it isn’t bad for you if it’s farm fresh and comes from pastured (rather than industrially raised) animals. In fact, studies have proven that these foods — what I call Real Foods — are quite healthy for us.

I would like add a superb way to start the day, while also keeping hunger pangs at bay.
2 poached eggs
2 slices granary bread
1 glass OJ (or similar)
Research has shown that people who eat eggs for breakfast tend to eat less over the course of the day.
