Two things you need to do to get more energy
My good friend, Topher Morrison has a PhD in Clinical Hypnotheraphy and is one of the world’s leading trainers in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Hypnosis.
Although based in Tampa, Florida, Topher travels the world and does seminars in UK, Australia and the USA on personal development, NLP and hypnosis. He’s also the author of a book I recommend called “Stop Chasing Perfection and Settle for Excellence”
In his work, he talks about two things you need to do to get more energy. Here they are:-
1. Eat good healthy foods and drinks.
2. Complete your incompletions.
Number 1 is straightforward. I write a lot about that and you know that it’s important to eat good healthy food, don’t you?
The second one though is extremely powerful. Let me take an example of a working young man named Jon. Jon works 9-5, sometimes longer, 6 days a week. So does his wife Julie. They both have a 3 bedroom house in London – you could say that it’s a big house for 2 people.
When they get home, there’s not enough time to clean up the house and so it piles up with clothes lying around, dust in most places and dishes and other items in the kitchen all dirty.
They come home from work, see the house messy and they’re energy drains with all the overwhelm and amount of work they have to complete. It’s a lot, after a hard days work. So they get a takeaway, slouch in front of the TV, eat and then sleep.
They leave the take out box in the bin sticking out (more mess) and go to bed. This happens several times. Realise that the more mess Jon and Julie are creating is adding up. And so to does their drained energy.
One day Julie says to Jon, how about we pick just the smallest room and clean it up together. Then maybe later if we’re up to it we can do another, but for now, just one.
So Jon and Julie do that. They clean up the smallest room. They look at it once done, and say, that was easy, it’s clean, I’m feeling happier.
What happened here is that they completed (cleaning the room) one of their incompletions (dirty room) and so their energy increased slightly.
Then with that burst of energy, they go on to clean the next room. And the energy increases. And then the next room, and the energy increases again.
Soon enough, the whole house is spotless, they’ve completed their incompletions and are feeling high in energy.
So as Topher says, complete your incompletions. Make a list of what’s incomplete in your life – a phone call you have to make, someone you need to visit, some paperwork you need to do, a bill you need to pay, washing up, etc. Whatever it is, make a note of it and start doing it one by one. Even if you do one today, feel happy. Distribute it easily for you to do.
Eat healthy foods, and complete your incompletions.
