The good news is that there are some steps you can take when eating at a nice restaurant or at a favorite fast food place without jeopardizing your diet. You just have to do a little bit of preplanning and also calorie counting in order to succeed with having a nice time and not breaking your diet.</p>
<p>When you know you&#8217;re going out to dinner with friends always try to first steer them toward the restaurants that you know may have diet friendly foods. Once you know which restaurant you will be eating at try to plan a little bit in advance so that when you place your meal order it will suit your weight loss plan.</p>
<p>Many restaurants nowadays post their menus online, and by counting the calories that you find on the menu items you can determine which meal would be the best for you. That way you can take a look and preselect the meal you will be eating, and once you get to the restaurant you will not be tempted by anything on the menu and you’ll order what you&#8217;ve already decided on.</p>
<p>Another thing that you can do is, since you know that you&#8217;ll be going out to dinner at a nice restaurant you can plan your meals during the day, with the thought of your outing. So, if you have a certain amount of calories that you eat each day, then you can cut down on your breakfast and lunch calories so that you can enjoy more calories at dinnertime.</p>
<p>Another thing to keep in mind when going out to dinner is to drink water as the beverage of choice. That&#8217;s because alcohol can add almost 200 calories to your meal, and not only that alcohol is also known to stimulate your appetite and that&#8217;s definitely not what you want, especially when you&#8217;re on a diet. But, if you really want to have a drink, then order a glass of red wine because although white wine is lower in calories red wine contains flavonoids which are heart healthy. If you&#8217;ve decided to stick with plain water then take note that ice water helps to speed up metabolism because your body needs to work extra to warm it up before it can be used.</p>

For example, if you believe that your caloric intake should be 1500 calories per day, and after two weeks, you discover that you haven&#8217;t lost any weight this can be very discouraging. But, at least you now you have the information that you need to know and understand that you have to bring down your calorie consumption. Now, instead of 1500 calories you can cut it down to 1300 calories and that should begin to get your weight loss moving. If you wouldn&#8217;t have had a calorie counter mindset, then you would have no idea of why you weren&#8217;t losing weight.</p>
<p>If you get a calorie counter booklet to help you count your food calories for each meal, then it can help you to accurately assess how many calories you&#8217;re eating per day. You should also not rely on your memory to tract what you&#8217;ve eaten during the day or for the last several days. Instead get a notebook or a small organizer and record all of your meals with calories.  That way you can make sure that you stay on track. Also, if you happen to have a smart phone, then there are applications that you can get that allow you to easily track calories.</p>
